Fairhope Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has an active youth group covering several age groups. Our goal is to prepare our youth spiritually, emotionally, and physically for a life committed to serving Christ.
Our regular activities include Sunday school before church, youth sermon during Sunday worship, youth church after youth sermon, Sunday afternoon meetings, and a Wednesday lesson.
Some of the activities our youth participate in include gathering non-perishable items to maintain the blessing box outside our church, raising funds to purchase gifts for Prison Fellowship angel tree, writing letters/cards to our shut-ins and those who are sick, and participating in service projects in and around the church.
The youth also participates in Easter events, back to school parties, trunk or treat as well as the Fairhope Christmas parade.
Adam Swedenburg joined our congregation in 2020 and brings a lot of excitement to the youth and children’s programs.
Adam and his siblings were taken into foster care away from an abusive situation when Adam was just three years old. He and his brother were placed in a foster home and later adopted by Jeff Swedenburg. Jeff was a youth minister and his influence encouraged Adam to follow in his footsteps. Adam is an Eagle Scout and has served as an Assistant Scout Master.
Adam is originally from Tuscaloosa but now resides in Mobile and is engaged to Brandi Thomas. Adam and Brandi are planning a Christmas wedding in 2021. Adam’s hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping, and keeping reptiles.
Adam interacts with our youth via skype, and zoom meetings as well as posted lessons on the church’s YouTube page. During traditional services, we invite all of our youth to meet in the fellowship hall for the youth school.
